Class AAA pitcher Marco Gonzales will have Tommy John Surgery and miss the rest of the season, general manager John Mozeliak announced Wednesday before the Cardinals played the Brewers at Busch Stadium.

Marco Gonzales, who appeared in only 19 games at any level last season, will end his 2016 campaign before he even appears in one. The lefty, after weighing the options and conferring with his inner circle, will undergo Tommy John surgery to address the ligament damage in his throwing elbow.
