Cardinals Recall Marco Gonzales, Mitch Harris, & Cody Stanley From Triple-A Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled three players today to join the team during September when Major League teams are allowed to expand their rosters. Left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales, right-handed pitcher Mitch Harris and catcher Cody Stanley have been recalled from Memphis (AAA) and will be available for tonight's game.

When the the St. Louis Cardinals announced left-hander Marco Gonzales as their Tuesday starter against the Nationals, it was a given that he would be called up from Triple A Memphis on the first day of September major league roster expansion. Less certain were any other moves the team might make.

Former first-round draft pick Marco Gonzales has battled shoulder problems all season and has been roughed up in his limited appearances for Triple-A Memphis. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old lefthander was one of three players promoted by the Cardinals today and he will be the starting pitcher vs. the Washington Nationals at 7:15 tonight.
