Cardinals Option Tim Cooney To Triple-A Memphis, Recall Tommy Pham

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's game with the San Diego Padres that they have optioned last night's starter, left-handed pitcher Tim Cooney to Memphis (AAA), and recalled outfielder Tommy Pham from the triple-A club.

Tommy Pham is getting his chance. With outfielders Jon Jay and Matt Holliday on the disabled list, the Cardinals recalled the 27-year-old Pham from Triple-A Memphis on Friday afternoon. He will start in center field for the second act of a four-game series between Cardinals and Padres at Busch Stadium.
