The 2012 third-rounder shot through the Minor Leagues, reaching Triple-A by Opening Day of 2014 and posting solid numbers in the Redbirds' rotation last year. He's been even better this year, with a 3.00 ERA through six starts. Cooney capped his week with 7 2/3 scoreless innings against Omaha on May 16. He struck out six, walked two and allowed just one hit in the win.
