Cardinals bench coach Mike Aldrete, the second-longest tenured member of the major-league coaching staff, has left the team to accept the same position with the Oakland Athletics.

A few days ago at their end of season press conference, Mike Matheny and John Mozeliak noted that most all of their coaching staff was under contract and all would be welcomed back for the 2015 season. But Mozeliak did acknowledge he was aware of the rumors of a potential departure. On Monday, the Oakland A’s made it official as they announced Mike Aldrete as their new bench coach.
