Oscar Taveras Finds Himself Batting Eighth; Tommy Pham-Tastic; This Is 40 For A.J. Pierzynski; Extra Bases

The Cardinals’ unending search for more offense and commitment to playing Oscar Taveras in right field converged Monday to relocate the rookie to a spot he’s never been.

In Class AAA Memphis’ 21-3 drubbing of New Orleans on Saturday night, outfielder Tommy Pham had four hits, four RBIs and four runs scored to become the first player in the Redbirds’ history with that production in that many box score columns. He also stole a base, his 13th. The outing punctuated a week that earned him the Pacific Coast League’s player of the week award.
