When he called the highly touted, highly regarded prospect into his office to explain the decision to demote him, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny knew the message had to be clear. He wanted the young rookie to know what impression he made during spring training, why he was going to Class AAA, where he needed to improve and how that would bring him back to the majors.
