The Cardinals have back-to-back wins for the first time since April 15 and are chasing only their second set of three in a row this season.

Peter Bourjos’ 2-for-4 night did not earn him another start on Tuesday. Instead, manager Mike Matheny turns back to Jon Jay, who has been making most of the starts against right-handed pitchers over the past three weeks. Matheny will share his reasoning behind the switch with the media in a bit, though this is a move that strikes me as one he made with an eye on the short-term (preferring the matchup) rather than the long-term (trying to get Bourjos going). With left-hander Mike Minor starting on Wednesday, Matheny may just start a different centerfielder in each of these three games.
