Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal, who worked four days in a row, concluding on Sunday when he blew his second save of the season, will not be available to pitch tonight, manager Mike Matheny said before the game.

The Cardinals will open up a series against Arizona tonight without Trevor Rosenthal available. That does not come as much of a surprise given that Rosenthal pitched four straight days leading into Monday’s off day. What is a surprise is that manager Mike Matheny admitted that Rosenthal would not be used on Tuesday. Typically, for strategy sake, Matheny won’t disclose such information until after the game.
