Oscar Taveras' Window Of Opportunity Closing; Jason Motte Ramps Up Intensity Of Throwing Session; Still Achy, Adam Wainwright Solid Against Mets; Mike Matheny Challenges, But Call Stands

Prized outfield prospect Oscar Taveras, who had right ankle surgery last season, is sidelined indefinitely with a tight hamstring in the same leg. And Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Taveras won't come north with the team if he can't show he can be 100 percent and play appreciably by the end of camp in just more than two weeks, which seems unlikely.

Oscar Taveras, the Cardinal's top prospect (for the past three seasons now), has suffered a right hamstring injury and will be held out of action until further notice. The 21-year old right fielder had been hoping to make the club after battling an ankle sprain that limited him to just 46 games last season in Triple-A Memphis.

It appears it's one step forward and one step back for top outfield prospect Oscar Taveras. The 21-year has been hampered the last few days by a sore right hamstring, the same leg as his original ankle injury.

Cardinals reliever Jason Motte took things to another level today in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The former NL leader in saves threw what he considers to be the hardest throwing bullpen he's had thus far.
