The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez and left-handed pitcher Sam Freeman from Memphis (AAA) and that Martinez is slated to make his first Major League start tonight in the team's series finale against Los Angeles. The Cardinals optioned right-handed pitcher Keith Butler and first baseman/outfielder Brock Peterson to Memphis following last night's game.
From the second pitch of Star Wars Night at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals have been in a mad scramble for innings.
