Cardinals Place Jake Westbrook On The 15-Day Disabled List, Recall Carlos Martinez From Triple-A Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Jake Westbrook (lower back strain) on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 22, and recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez from Memphis (AAA).

The Cardinals opened a spot in their starting rotation this morning by putting veteran rigthy Jake Westbrook on the disabled list with a lower back strain.
