Matt Holliday Not In Tonight's Lineup

It's drizzling here at Busch as the Cardinals are back from the All-Star break, ready to begin the second half of the season with a six-game home and a three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres.

Welcome to the start of baseball’s second half, though it’s really not a half at all. With 93 games already having been played, the Cardinals have another 69 left. Twenty-four of those will be against the Pirates and Reds; those head-to-head matchups begin later this month. On Friday, it’s the Padres and former Cardinal Jason Marquis to worry about. July has not been too kind to San Diego. Since the Padres evened their record at 40-40, they’ve gone 2-14.
