The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Matt Holliday (strained right hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list today, retroactive to July 12. The Cardinals also announced that they have purchased right-handed hitting first baseman/outfielder Brock Peterson from Memphis (AAA). Peterson is expected to be in uniform for tonight's game against San Diego and will wear uniform #41.

The Cardinals placed left fielder Matt Holliday on the disabled list this morning to give him some added days of rest for his injury without leaving the bench shorthanded.

The Cardinals had been without the services of slugging right fielder Matt Holliday since July 11th. Now they'll be without him at least two weeks longer. On Saturday, the Cardinals announced that Holliday (strained right hamstring) would be placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 12.
