May 26: Cardinals (31-17) @ Dodgers (20-27)

As I watched John Gast leave the game injured on Saturday night, I couldn’t help but think back to the Cardinals’ Dodger Stadium visit last May. Then, it was Lance Berkman hobbling off the field, leaving the Cardinals to deal with another player going down injured. Five players went on the disabled list during a nine-game span last May. This month, the Cardinals have already lost four pitchers to the DL — Jake Westbrook, Jaime Garcia, Fernando Salas and now Gast.
