Day 33: Nationals @ Cardinals

After a couple of days of having their pitchers bat, the Cardinals have chosen to employ a designated hitter again for today’s game. Also, Matt Carpenter is making his first start somewhere besides second base this spring. The Cardinals will have both Carpenter and Daniel Descalso move around a bit before the end of camp to make sure they have gotten enough repetitions at the other positions they play.
The pitcher who has on track to be the Cardinals young-reliever-turned-standout-starter before Adam Wainwright moved onto that career path comes for a visit this afternoon.
Cardinal Beat

With just two weeks left before the Cardinals break camp here in Florida, the number of players on the roster is dwindling by the day. Three more were sent out yesterday, bringing the total number of guys in camp to 45.
