Marc Rzepczynski won’t be here this weekend as he recovers from an eye injury he suffered during a golf outing with Randy Choate, Seth Maness and Lance Lynn on Friday. Lynn said he believes it was a rock or some other piece of debris — but not the golf ball — that struck Rzepczynski in the eye when the lefty took his second swing of the day. Rzepczynski, according to Choate, went to the ground holding his eye. Choate immediately drove him back to the Cardinals’ complex to be evaluated. Rzepczynski was later seen leaving with an eye patch. He’s expected back in the clubhouse next week.
Adam Wainwright, not terribly impressive in his first two starts, will face the Miami Marlins today backed by a lineup which still does not include left fielder Matt Holliday, who has had a virus and wasn’t at the ball park for the last two days before he stopped into the trainer’s room late this morning.
Cardinal Beat
Outfielder Adron Chambers has already won the Cardinals Survivor contest by being the final man to appear in the most consecutive games to start the spring. Now he's just messing with us.
