Tulsa Homers Past Springfield 13-8

Back at Hammons Field for a short four game homestand, the heat and wind blowing out to left field played a big role as the Springfield Cardinals took on the Tulsa Drillers in game one of their series.
Shortstop Hector Gomez, a .209 hitter, delivered a season-high seven RBIs on four hits — including two home runs, one a grand slam — as the Tulsa Drillers ripped the Springfield Cardinals 13-7 on Monday night at Hammons Field.
In most other years, this kind of effort would have translated into a victory:

Matt Adams cracks his 21st home run, Ryan Jackson reaches 50 RBIs for the first time in his young minor league career and Zack Cox generates three hits, giving him 24 in 63 at-bats in July.
