Cardinals Release Former All-Star Closer Ryan Franklin

The Cardinals made a difficult but ultimately necessary move on Wednesday, granting veteran reliever Ryan Franklin his release. The club will add an additional reliever on Thursday, but did not announce on Wednesday who that pitcher will be.
