Felipe Lopez Named International League Player Of The Week Day After Being Called Up
Infielder Felipe Lopez banged out multiple hits in each of the five games he played in this week for Durham, finishing the seven-day stretch 1st in the League in batting average (.591) and on-base percentage (.625), 2nd in hits (13), 3rd in slugging (.909), T-4th in RBI (8), and T-5th in runs (7). Lopez crossed home plate at least once in each of the five games, and drove in runs in four of the five contests including a four-RBI outburst Thursday night against Louisville. Lopez began the season with Tampa Bay, helping fill-in for the injured Evan Longoria. Since joining Durham, he's hit .347 in 11 games. Sunday, Lopez was recalled by the Rays after Reid Brignac was placed on the bereavement list.
