Looking to win the series Tuesday afternoon, the Cardinals turned to right hander Kevin Thomas, working on nine days rest, against left hander Carlos Hernandez of Midland.
So much for securing a winning homestand.
An erractic Kevin Thomas lasted only two innings, and the Springfield Cardinals’ defense and relief corps wasn’t much better in a 14-7 loss to the Midland RockHounds in a Tuesday matinee before 3,162 fans at Hammons Field.
