Shortly after 9 p.m. CT on Tuesday, optimism finally began to give way to reality. The Cardinals and Nationals waited more than two hours in an attempt to play their scheduled game at Busch Stadium, but Mother Nature finally won and the game was rained out.
The Cardinals have postponed Tuesday night's game and will play the Washington Nationals in a day-night doubleheader Wednesday at Busch Stadium.
