The four people who mattered the most didn't seem concerned about Jaime Garcia giving up 37 hits and 24 runs in his first 17 spring innings. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, pitching coach Dave Duncan, catcher Yadier Molina and Garcia himself, in effect, said, "What, me worry?"

Among the several players making their first Opening Day roster in the major leagues, the longest shot coming into Cardinals camp was righthander Bryan Augenstein, who had a 6.49 ERA as a starter for Arizona's Reno Class AAA team last year.
