As 22-year-old Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg met with the media on Friday afternoon to explain plans for surgery on his right elbow, he was on the minds of many. That included St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, readying for the evening’s game in the opposing clubhouse.
