Skip Schumaker was well aware of the individual significance of Wednesday's ninth-inning shot against Diamondbacks reliever Bob Howry. Until he smashed the three-run bolt, Schumaker was hitless with runners in scoring position and held the dubious distinction of the major-league hitter with the most at-bats without an RBI. Wednesday's two hits also snapped a three-for-23 skid that had dragged his average to .208. He has started 13 of the team's 15 games and appeared in another. The weight of his wait had become tangible.
