We haven't been able to say the same of AutoZone Park, this year the source of such headlines as "Redbirds strike out on bonds" and "Janitorial firm sues Redbirds."
But if we worry over the fate and future of the Redbirds and their nest, nobody's going to come along and unbuild AutoZone Park. Dean Jernigan, for all his faults as a details man, ranks as one of the all-time great visionaries.
So they'll keep playing ball at Union and Third for years to come, it would seem -- better to keep it operating and producing some revenue for the bondholders than to shutter the place and produce nothing.
Which is the theme of Memphis sports these days, isn't it? We're soldiering on, in the face of struggles, financial and otherwise.
