Cardinals Lean Left To Trump Detroit's Ace, Justin Verlander

First baseman Albert Pujols, the St. Louis Cardinals’ island of offense, is surrounded on all sides by lefthanded hitters for tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers. To counter the Tigers’ ace Justin Verlander, who is 7-0 with a 1.10 ERA in his previous nine starts, manager Tony La Russa is unleashing his lefties — and packing them on all sides of No. 3 hitter Pujols.
