The Pirates send Zach Duke to the mound to try to end their eight-game losing streak as they take on Todd Wellemeyer and the St. Louis Cardinals. Wellemeyer’s ERA is up a run compared to 2008 despite better home run numbers. He’s pitching very well on the road, however, with a 1.93 ERA in two starts, and just two walks in fourteen innings. Duke is taking the Tom Glavine road to success this year with a reverse platoon difference. Righties are batting .226 against him, lefties .351, which is fine his righties face him three times more than lefties.
