St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Brian Barton was one of eight players cut from the major-league camp on the eve of the teams third off day. Barton, reliever Matt Scherer, lefty Charlie Manning and starter Mitchell Boggs were all optioned to Class AAA Memphis’ roster. Pitchers Adam Ottavino, Jess Todd and Clayton Mortensen and infielder Allen Craig were assigned to minor-league camp.
