The Phillies had the league's best bullpen last season, but that doesn't mean it can't be even better.
So, they have targeted free-agent right-handers Juan Cruz, Russ Springer and David Weathers as possible additions to a group that includes closer Brad Lidge, lefties J.C. Romero and Scott Eyre and right-handers Ryan Madson, Chad Durbin and likely Clay Condrey. They'd have to forfeit a first-round pick for signing Cruz, a Type A free agent.
"The bullpen was a strength of ours last year," Amaro said, "and if we can keep adding to that strength, that would be great."
