Cardinals — The Cards are going hard after Fuentes, and last week the team's Web site called negotiations "substantive but not in the final stages." I'd rather see them give the job to a flamethrowing youngster like Chris Perez or Jason Motte, but I'm not in charge. Keeper league alert: Motte struck out 110 batters in 65 2/3 innings at Triple-A last season. Holy #$@!
