Paul DeJong Wins 2019 Heart & Hustle Award

The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association announced the 30 preliminary winners of the 2019 Heart and Hustle Award on Tuesday. This esteemed award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players. Voting is conducted prior to the All-Star break.

Sonny Gray Fans 12 & Feels Love From Reds Fans

Reds starter Sonny Gray appeared to have 22,685 fans all in his corner Wednesday when manager David Bell paid him a mound visit in the eighth inning after a two-out walk. The din of crowd noise at Great American Ball Park increased to show support for Gray, and it roared when Bell’s talk was brief before he returned to the dugout.

Derek Dietrich Putting Versatility To Use With Reds

Facing the Mariners' new Japanese left-handed pitcher, Yusei Kikuchi, in the second inning on Thursday night, Reds utility player Derek Dietrich got all of a 1-0 pitch and everyone in the ballpark knew it. All Kikuchi could do was put his hands on his hips and watch as the ball carried well over the right-field fence to the outer reaches of Goodyear Ballpark.
