New Documentary On 1980's Cardinals Is As Fun As They Were

The first baseball team you follow as a kid, the first one you truly dedicate yourself to obsessing over every day for six months of the year, can set the tone for the rest of your baseball fandom moving forward. Baseball just means more to you when you’re a kid: Every pitch seems like the most important pitch ever thrown, every win is glorious, every loss is tragic, all the players are 15 feet tall. You can never quite recreate the rush of that first team you truly love, that first time you feel so connected to it, to its fans, to its ebbs and flows, to something larger than yourself. It sticks with you forever.

Gibbons thinks Donaldson is dealing with a “dead arm” and it’s not serious. But we shall see. Not great timing for Donaldson, who can become a free agent after the season. His all-out play over the years may have caught up to him at age 32.

How Bobbleheads Became Baseball's Secret Weapon To Boost Attendance

Throughout the course of a baseball season, MLB teams give away a ton of promotional swag at select games: From replica championship rings, to T-shirts and jerseys, to tote bags, magnets and garden gnomes. If you can name it, a baseball team has probably given it away. But perhaps one of the most ubiquitous, and sought after, tchotchkes is the bobblehead.
