Pirates Sign Dominican Outfielder Jeremias Portorreal
Dominican outfielder Jeremias Portorreal, who became eligible to sign when he turned 16 on Wednesday, has signed with the Pirates for $375,000.

Jeremias Portorreal - Outfielder
His hitting mechanics are polished and he has a feel for hitting. His approach is fundamentally sound with the right sequence of load; lower half explosion and weight shift. He has a fluid left handed swing with an aggressive attack at balls in the zone creating solid line drives with back spin. He’s a spray hitter with ability to turn on inside pitches with authority and will show true HR power in game situation. Portorreal is limited defensively but is a solid outfielder with an average arm and below average runner.
