His name, perfect for a young, hard thrower, seemed the kind a novelist or screenwriter would conjure. Yet, Billy McCool was real, a left-hander who broke into the majors with the Reds as a teenager and for two years was among the top relievers in the National League.

Ex-Cardinal George Culver Holding Down Fort While Charlie Hough Recovers(Inland Empire, Class A Advanced Dodgers)

Sixers pitching coach Charlie Hough has had to leave the team because of an ailing back.
Taking his place on a temporary basis is former big league pitcher George Culver, who won 48 games in the big leagues for the Indians, Reds, Cardinals, Astros, Dodgers, and Phillies from 1966-74. It is not known when Hough will return.
