If Jeremy Jeffress remains healthy and can bounce back from a tough 2019 season, he could be the Cubs’ primary setup man ahead of closer Craig Kimbrel this year.

Cardinals' Infiuelders Come Early To Learn From Jose Oquendo
The official start of Cardinals’ spring training camp for pitchers and catchers isn’t until Wednesday. But in a small area adjacent to the batting cages outside the clubhouse, Jose Oquendo is holding court. Most of his defensive instruction involves infielders, but pitchers and even catchers who like to play shortstop — such at Yadier Molina — also are welcome.

Four Reasons Why The Cardinals Should Be Aggressively Pursuing A Mookie Betts Trade
With spring training less than two weeks away, the free-agent market has been mostly picked clean, and our attention has turned to the trade market. Kris Bryant's service time grievance has been resolved, meaning the Cubs can begin trade talks in earnest. Nolan Arenado and Francisco Lindor remain available, though the rumor mill has been mostly quiet the last few days.

Fernando Tatis, Jr. Ends First Half With Home Run History, Suffocating Defense
Fernando Tatis Jr. didn’t sleep very well on Saturday night. Hours earlier, he’d been hit by a pitch in the left elbow, and he felt pain every time he moved. The Padres’ rookie phenom arrived at Dodger Stadium on Sunday morning unsure whether he’d be able to play. An hour before first pitch, Tatis was given the green light.

Marcell Ozuna On Injured List, Cardinals Leaning Towards Bringing Tyler O'Neill Up
Besides a 3-1 loss in San Diego tonight, the St. Louis Cardinals will also be without the services of Marcell Ozuna for at least the next ten days, who will be placed on the Injured List with a right hand injury.
STL Baseball Weekly
Shortly before they found a way, through video replay, to vanquish the lengthiest scoreless streak of their season, and long before Friday’s game was decided in any way, the Cardinals already had suffered a loss that could hurt as much as any in the standings.

See What Made Manny Machado Tip His Cap To Jordan Hicks
All Manny Machado could do -- after one of the young season's most riveting showdowns between a batter and a pitcher -- was tip his cap.
St. Louis Official Site
By the time Cardinals closer-in-training Jordan Hicks readied to throw the ninth pitch of the at-bat, Manny Machado had his timing against the young, heat-seeking reliever. Machado had fouled off fastballs at 102 mph and 101 mph, and seen six pitches at 100 mph or faster. One of baseball’s newest $300-million men was primed to launch Hicks’ best pitch.
