The Cardinals announced Sunday they have placed Adam Wainwright on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation. It’s an unfortunate blow for the veteran right-hander who seemed to have gotten back on track in his last two starts, across which he allowed three earned runs in 12 total innings (2.25 ERA). The move is retroactive to April 20th, and Mike Matheny said on MLB Network Radio Sunday that Wainwright has been dealing with the elbow issue for a little while now.
