The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's game that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Mike Mayers from Memphis (AAA) and optioned right-handed pitcher John Gant to the triple-A Redbirds.

A day after earning his first win as a Cardinal and second as a major leaguer, right-hander John Gant is headed back to Triple-A Memphis. Taking his roster spot is right-hander Mike Mayers, who was recalled from the Redbirds.
