Former Cardinals Draft Selections Playing In College 4-21-17: Matt Vierling Doubles Twice & Drives In Three Runs; Josh Rolette Collects Two Singles & One RBI; Ryan Merrill Triples & Walks



Justin Bellinger (former 2014 draft selection-Duke) entered late in the game at first base and batted sixth.  1-for-1 at the plate.

Duke beat Louisville 5-3

Joe Gillette (former 2014 draft selection-Menlo) started at third base and batted second.  0-for-4 with one strikeout and committed one error.

Menlo beat William Jessup 5-3

Cadyn Grenier (former 2015 draft selection-Oregon St) started at second base and batted seventh.  0-for-3 with one sacrifice and three strikeouts.

Jeremy Ydens (former 2016 draft selection-UCLA) entered late in the game in left field and batted leadoff.  0-for-2 at the plate.

Oregon St beat UCLA 4-2 in 10 innings

Ryan Merrill (former 2015 draft selection-Texas Christian) started at shortstop and batted eighth.  1-for-3 with one triple, one run, one walk, and one strikeout.

Texas Christian beat Baylor 9-4

Josh Rolette (former 2015 draft selection-Kansas St) started at catcher and batted seventh.  2-for-4 with one double, one RBI, and one run.

West Virginia beat Kansas St 9-7

Matt Vierling (former 2015 draft selection-Notre Dame) started in centerfield and batted fourth.  4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Derek Casey (former 2014 draft selection-Virginia) started and pitched two innings.  He allowed four hits, four earned runs, three walks, and threw one wild pitch for the losing decision (3-1).  (p-s:54-31)(g/f:2-4)
