Former Cardinals Playing In The Mexican League 7-27-16: Eliezer Alfonzo Singles, Doubles, Walks Twice, Homers, & Drives In Five Runs In Doubleheader; Luis Garcia Singles & Hits A Two-Run Homer; Ivan Maldonado Strikes Out One & Allows One Run Over Six & A Third Innings



Eliezer Alfonzo (former Peoria-Saltillo) started at first base and batted third.  1-for-5 with two two-out RBIs, two walks (one intentional), one strikeout, and assisted in two double plays.

Ivan Maldonado (former MiLB tryout-Reynosa) started and pitched 6.1 innings.  He allowed eight hits, one earned run, three walks, threw one wild pitch, and struck one out.  (p-s:90-54)(g/f:10-4)

Saltillo beat Reynosa 3-1 in 13 innings in game one of doubleheader

Richy Pedroza (former Peoria-Aguascalientes) started at shortstop and batted leadoff.  1-for-4 with one run, one strikeout, and assisted in one double play.

Monterrey beat Aguascalientes 7-6

Eliezer Alfonzo (former Peoria-Saltillo) started as designated hitter and batted third.  2-for-4 with one double, one home run, three two-out RBIs, and two runs.

Saltillo beat Reynosa 14-1 in game two of doubleheader

Iker Franco (former Springfield-Quintana Roo) started at catcher and batted seventh.  0-for-4, one passed ball, and threw out one of two base runners.

Jose Martinez (former Springfield-Veracruz) started at second base and batted fourth.  2-for-4 with one double, one RBI, one intentional walk, and assisted in three double plays.

Veracruz beat Quintana Roo 3-2 in 10 innings

Eugenio Velez (former Memphis-Monclova) started in left field and batted leadoff.  2-for-5 with one two-out RBI, one run, and one strikeout.

Monclova beat Tijuana 4-2

Niko Vasquez (former Springfield-Laguna) started at shortstop and batted fifth.  1-for-4 with one run, one walk, one stolen base, one strikeout, committed three double plays (one throwing and two fielding), and assisted in one double play.

Mexico beat Laguna 9-6 in 10 innings

Luis Garcia (former New Haven-Yucatan) started as designated hitter and batted fifth.  2-for-4 with one home run, two RBIs, and one run.

Yucatan beat Tabasco 7-1
