Cardinals High On Auburn's Anfernee Grier's Tools

Three professional scouts have told the Montgomery Advertiser this week that Grier could go as high as No. 23 overall in the first round to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals, who drafted his father in the sixth round in 1987, are reportedly very high on the potential of Grier’s tools offensively and defensively in center fielder. The franchise has three picks in the top 34 selections: No. 23, No. 33 (compensation for John Lackey signing with Chicago Cubs) and No. 34 (compensation for Jason Heyward signing with the Chicago Cubs).
