Royals Trade Jose Martinez To Cardinals For Cash Considerations & Transfer Mitch Harris From 15-Day To 60-Day Disabled List

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have acquired outfielder Jose Martinez from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations. Martinez , who was playing for Omaha (AAA) this season, has been assigned to the Memphis (AAA) roster. To make room for Martinez on the team's 40-man Major League roster, the Cardinals transferred right-handed pitcher Mitch Harris (right elbow) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Reliever Mitch Harris, the Navy grad whose incredible story dominated headlines last summer, has been placed on the 60-day DL. That move was necessitated by a trade with the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Jose Martinez, who was added to the Triple-A Memphis roster. He was added to the team’s 40-man roster in Harris’ place.
