Jose Oquendo Won't Return In 2016 After Surgery

Jose Oquendo announced that he will be undergoing right knee replacement surgery next month, which will preclude him from returning to the Cardinals' coaching staff this season.

Jose Oquendo said a visit to a St. Louis doctor on Friday confirmed his worst fears. He will undergo knee replacement surgery next month and will not return to the big club in 2016.

While the returns for Peralta and Pham grow near the same cannot be said for Jose Oquendo. Visiting the team on Saturday, Oquendo shared that he is headed towards right knee replacement surgery in May. Recovery time is expected to be at least six months which rules out the thought of any possible return to coach third base this season.
