Rick Scott Signs Bill To Clear Way For Nationals-Astros New Spring Training Facility

Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill into law Wednesday that will officially allow the Nationals and Astros to move forward with a joint spring training facility in West Palm Beach. Scott’s signature represented the final okay needed from the state, approving a change in a land-use regulation, though it was largely a formality. By the time the Florida House of Representatives and Senate approved the bill in April, Scott had already announced the Nationals would continue to spring train in Florida another 30 years — the length of the proposed lease on their new facility with the Astros, and reiterated his support.
