Before Thursday night’s 7-2 win over Cincinnati, the Pirates had scored one run or none over nine innings in each of their last five games, including the three straight extra-inning games here last weekend. ... The Cardinals outlasted the Pirates then in large part because they kept All-Stars Josh Harrison and Andrew McCutchen off base. Harrison had one single in 16 at-bats and McCutchen had three singles in 16 at-bats.
