My friend Joe Sheehan recently wrote something to the effect that no baseball writer, columnist, pundit or fan should perform any serious performance analysis for the first few weeks of the season. (I'm loosely paraphrasing here.) Why? Because the sampling is too skimpy to contain meaning.
