The Cardinals signed Mark Reynolds as a free agent this offseason with an eye on his powerful right-handed bat, which has produced seven straight 20-homer seasons. The question is how to get that bat in the lineup.

The construction of the Cardinals bench remains to be seen. It could have one backup outfielder. It could have two. There may be all right-handed hitters on it. There could be a mixture. We just don't know yet.
