It was not the way Carlos Martinez envisioned this going. And, to be fair, it's far from a guarantee that this is what's going to actually happen. But the fact Martinez ending up back in the bullpen is the likeliest of scenarios is pretty surprising given where the Cardinals envisioned themselves a few weeks ago.
