Abdominal Pain Sending Adam Wainwright Back To St. Louis

The Cardinals will fly Adam Wainwright to St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon to have the right-hander examined after abdominal pain kept him from participating fully in Tuesday's workout.

After experiencing abdominal pain that has limited his workouts but not his ability to throw, Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright will return to St. Louis to see a specialist Thursday.

Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak announced Tuesday afternoon that Adam Wainwright is returning to St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon to see a specialist on Thursday after experiencing lower abdomen pain.

At least it's not Adam Wainwright's right elbow. At least it's so early that spring training hasn't even officially started for the Cardinals. And at least the Cardinals were planning a light workload for Wainwright this spring.
