Lance Lynn Prepared To Start Next Game, If Adam Wainwright Cannot

Cardinals starter Lance Lynn, who handled Game 2 of this National League division series, has been kept on schedule to start a possible Game 5 or even Game 1 of the next round as the club continues to have concern about Adam Wainwright's readiness.

While the Cardinals continue to prepare Adam Wainwright to start Game 5 (if necessary) of this National League Division Series, the club is also readying Lance Lynn for the start as concerns remain about Wainwright's health. Lynn, who started Game 2, would be able to step in Thursday -- at Dodger Stadium, 8 p.m. CT (or 7:30 if the Giants/Nationals NLDS is over) on FOX Sports 1 -- and start on four days' rest if Wainwright can't go.

Asked during his pregame press conference if Adam Wainwright would be his Game 5 starter, St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny answered “We’re going to worry about today. But, yeah, he’s moving that direction. But we also have the flexibility of using Lance Lynn in that spot, too, with regular rest.”
